A city in central Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1962. It is located in the center of the Musashino Plateau and developed from a new rice field settlement in the Edo period. In the early Showa period, Tsuda English Academy (now Tsuda University), Tokyo University of Commerce preparatory school (now Hitotsubashi University branch campus), Musashino Art University, and other schools were relocated here, and it became a residential area. In recent years, collective housing and factories producing tires and electrical equipment have been attracted, and it has rapidly developed as a suburban city. It is served by the Musashino Line and Seibu Railway's Shinjuku, Tama Lake, Kokubunji, and Haijima lines. Kodaira Cemetery is located in the north. 20.51 km2 .
