Japanese: 小平[市] - こだいら

A city in central Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1962. It is located in the center of the Musashino Plateau and developed from a new rice field settlement in the Edo period. In the early Showa period, Tsuda English Academy (now Tsuda University), Tokyo University of Commerce preparatory school (now Hitotsubashi University branch campus), Musashino Art University, and other schools were relocated here, and it became a residential area. In recent years, collective housing and factories producing tires and electrical equipment have been attracted, and it has rapidly developed as a suburban city. It is served by the Musashino Line and Seibu Railway's Shinjuku, Tama Lake, Kokubunji, and Haijima lines. Kodaira Cemetery is located in the north. 20.51 ^km2 . Population 187,035 (2010).

東京都中部の市。1962年市制。武蔵野台地の中央にあり，江戸時代の新田集落から発達。昭和初期津田英学塾（現・津田塾大学），東京商大予科（現・一橋大分校），武蔵野美術大学などが移転して以来住宅地化した。近年，集団住宅やタイヤ，電気機器などの工場が誘致され，近郊都市として急激に発展。武蔵野線，西武鉄道の新宿・多摩湖・国分寺・拝島各線が通じる。北部に小平霊園がある。20.51km²。18万7035人（2010）。
