Located in Aoki, Yoshimura-cho, Miyazaki City, this is a representative cemetery site from the early Yayoi period in southern eastern Kyushu. It is located on the alluvial plain on the left bank of the Oyo-gawa River, which runs through Miyazaki City, at the southern end of the third sand dune, counting parallel to the current coastline. The site became known in 1951 and 1952 with the discovery of a child's jar coffin, and excavations by the Special Committee for Comprehensive Research on Yayoi Pottery Culture of the Japanese Archaeological Association in 1956 and Miyazaki City in 1959 recorded ten graves with square or rectangular stone paving of about 1m on top of pits, as well as three sets of jar coffins.
