...Yokokawa consists of six valleys: Hannya, Gedatsu, Tosatsu, Kabo, Kaishin, and Iimori. It began in 829 (Tencho 6) when Ennin established Shuryogon-in temple, and includes Yokokawa Chudo (Shuryogon-in temple), Shikimidou, Keishin-in temple, and Joshin-in temple. Other temples include Kurodani Bessho Seiryuji temple and Anraku-in Bessho Anraku-ritsu-in temple. The current buildings of these temples were rebuilt during the Kan'ei period or later, and although there were originally 3,000 temples, there are now only around 70.
