Transformism

...Granitic rocks are rocks that have a different chemical composition and structure from granite (such as sandstone or mudstone) and are transformed into granite by the inflow and outflow of materials without going through a molten state (magma). They are also called transformation. Granite is the second most common rock on the Earth's surface after basalt, and is found in large quantities in the cores of stable continents (shields) and in the central axes of surrounding orogenic belts.
