Heat reflective (reflecting) glass

Heat reflective (reflecting) glass

Glass with a thin film coating that reflects infrared rays. It is also called infrared reflective glass. Because it transmits visible light and efficiently reflects infrared rays, when used as a building material, it can reduce the cooling load indoors and is expected to have an energy saving effect. In addition, its mirror-like appearance gives a beautiful look to buildings. For the thin film, metals and nitrides with high electrical conductivity, and oxides with high refractive index are used to enhance reflection. Thin films of metals and oxides are formed on the glass surface using chemical plating or sputtering (a method of forming a thin film on a substrate by colliding accelerated ions with a target to release atoms or molecules), or are obtained by pressing them into the glass surface as metal ions. Heat reflective glass is used for windows in office buildings, commercial buildings, public facilities, cultural facilities, and other places where anti-glare properties are required.
