Automobile race - Automobile competition
It is usually a race in which two or more cars compete on a set course in terms of speed and driving technique. There are three types of races: road races on normal roads, circuit races on courses with normal road conditions, and track races on special courses suitable for high speeds. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) classifies the cars into classes such as formula cars, sports cars (racing sports cars), grand touring cars (mass-produced cars generally called sports cars), and touring cars (mass-produced passenger cars). The oldest races were held in 1887 between Paris and Versailles in France, and in 1895 between Paris and Bordeaux. In 1900, international races began in the United States, and have been popular in Europe and the United States ever since. The Indy 500 (Indianapolis 500 Mile Race) in the United States, the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, and the Formula One Grand Prix races that are held around the world are internationally famous. In Japan, auto racing was held as a gambling event after the war, but the first full-scale car race was the Japan Grand Prix race held at the Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture in 1963. In addition to the above races, there are other types of motor sports, such as rallies, where cars race at a set speed around a set course, hill climb races, and time trials, where cars must set records. →Motorcycle racing/Racing cars→Related topics Go-karts | Dakar Rally | Motorsports
