Aluminum-bearing mineral
A mineral whose main chemical component is aluminum. Aluminum occurs in nature as salts, such as oxide, hydroxide, sulfate, and silicate. Corundum is a representative oxide mineral. The transparent red ruby ​​and transparent blue sapphire of corundum are prized gemstones. Gibbsite is an example of a hydroxide, which is the main component mineral of bauxite, which is the raw material for aluminum. Alumite is the main sulfate mineral, and has the chemical composition of alkali-containing aluminum sulfate, and has long been used as a raw material for alumina.

アルミニウムを主要化学成分とする鉱物。自然界におけるアルミニウムの産出は,酸化物,水酸化物,硫酸塩,ケイ酸塩などの塩類として知られている。 酸化物ではコランダムが代表的な鉱物である。コランダムのうち赤色透明なルビー,青色透明のサファイアは宝石として珍重される。水酸化物ではギブサイトがあげられるが,これはアルミニウムの原料などとなるボーキサイトの主要な構成鉱物である。硫酸塩としてはミョウバン石が主要な鉱物であって含アルカリ硫酸アルミニウムの化学成分をもち,古くからアルミナ原料として使用されてきた。
