Ten commandments that stipulate the fundamental ethics of biblical religion. In English, they are called the Ten Commandments or Decalogue. They are also written as the Ten Commandments, and are particularly called the Ten Commandments of Moses. They are found in Exodus 20:12-17 and are as follows (however, the classification varies depending on the denomination): Preface: "I am the Lord your God...", First Commandment: "You shall have no other gods before me", Second Commandment: "You shall not make for yourself a graven image", Third Commandment: "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain", Fourth Commandment: "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy", Fifth Commandment: "Honor your father and your mother", Sixth Commandment: "You shall not murder", Seventh Commandment: "You shall not commit adultery", Eighth Commandment: "You shall not steal", Ninth Commandment: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor", Tenth Commandment: "You shall not covet your neighbor's house" (translated by the Japan Bible Society).
