Takinoue [town] - Takinoue
A town in Monbetsu County, Hokkaido. Immigrants from Kochi Prefecture settled in the town in 1905, and development began. The town includes the vast Kitami Mountains upstream of the Shokotsu River, and is rich in timber, making it a popular lumber industry. The lowlands along the river produce potatoes and dairy farming. Area: 766.89 km2 . Population: 3,028 (2010).
