Pain in the outer ear, middle ear, and surrounding areas. Causes include local inflammation, sudden changes in air pressure, radiating pain to adjacent organs such as the teeth, temporomandibular joint, and pharynx, and neuralgia of the glossopharyngeal nerve and superior laryngeal nerve.
