Clan Chronicles (English: Shì zú zhì)

Japanese: 氏族志 - しぞくし（英語表記）Shì zú zhì

These clan documents were compiled three times by the state during the Tang dynasty, the final period of aristocratic society in China. They clearly show the intention of the dynastic power to reorganize the aristocratic order. These three books are "Zhenguan Clan Records," published in 638 (Zhenguan 12) during the Taizong reign; "Shingushi Lu," revised in 659 (Xianqing 4) with the emergence of Empress Wu Zetian; and "Da Tang Shuzoku Kilul," which began to be compiled after the collapse of the Wu Zhou regime and was completed in 714 (Kaiyuan 2) during the Xuanzong reign. 中国，貴族社会の終末期にあたる唐代に，国家によって三たび編纂された氏族文献。王朝権力による貴族秩序再編成の意図が集約的に示されている。太宗朝の638年(貞観12)に頒布された《貞観氏族志》，則天武后の登場にともなって改編された659年(顕慶4)の《姓氏録》，武周政権崩壊後に編纂が始まり，玄宗朝の714年(開元2)に完成した《大唐姓族系録》の3書である。日本の《新撰姓氏録》のモデルとなった。【礪波護】
