Magnetic Ink - Jisei Ink

Japanese:
Magnetic Ink - Jisei Ink
Ink for creating a magnetic recording layer by printing. It was developed in the United States in the 1950s for the purpose of automatically reading check numbers. There are inks for letterpress and offset printing, but the ink contains a large amount of gamma magnetic iron oxide particles, which are not originally suitable as ink pigments, making it difficult to print. In the 1970s, strip-shaped magnetic recording parts began to be printed on various cards, savings passbooks, etc., and for this, the screen printing method was used without exception. After printing, the dried ink surface is smoothed by running a calendar over it.
