Jishuei - Jishuei

A powerful man during the civil war at the end of the Northern Wei Dynasty in China. He was the head of the Qihu (Jie) tribe, native to Bei Xiurong (Shanxi Province), but rose to power with his military might when the Six Zhen Rebellion broke out. When Emperor Xiaoming was killed by the faction of Empress Dowager Ling in 528, he supported Emperor Xiaozhuang and marched to Luoyang, massacring the Empress Dowager, the young ruler, and over 2,000 court officials (the Heyin Incident), and then went on to suppress the Six Zhen Rebellion, successfully ending the seven-year-long rebellion in 530. Rong held real power in Luoyang as Grand Chancellor and based himself in Jinyang (Shanxi Province), but was assassinated in the palace by Emperor Xiaozhuang and a group of courtiers who had grown increasingly opposed to him in 530. The Erzhu clan responded by assassinating the emperor and briefly seizing power, but were destroyed by Gao Huan, who had broken away from the Erzhu clan and allied with a powerful clan in Hebei.

中国、北魏(ほくぎ)末の内乱期における実力者。北秀容(ほくしゅうよう)（山西省）に土着した契胡(けいこ)すなわち羯(けつ)種の首長(しゅちょう)であったが、六鎮(りくちん)の乱が起こるとその武力でもって台頭した。528年孝明帝が霊太后(れいたいこう)派に殺されると、孝荘帝を擁立して洛陽(らくよう)に進軍し、太后、幼主および朝臣2000余人を虐殺（河陰(かいん)の変）、引き続いて六鎮の乱の鎮圧に向かい、530年には7年に及ぶ大乱の鎮静化に成功した。栄は大丞相(じょうしょう)として洛陽の実権を握り、自らは晋陽(しんよう)（山西省）に本拠を置いたが、反発を強めた孝荘帝と朝臣グループにより、530年宮中で誅殺(ちゅうさつ)された。爾朱氏一族はこれに対し帝を殺して一時権力を握ったものの、爾朱氏から離脱し河北の豪族と結んだ高歓(こうかん)によって滅ぼされた。
