General Confederation of Trade Unions. The former Soviet Union's All-Soviet Central Council of Trade Unions became an international organization that confederated trade unions from each republic of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This organization was established in April 1992 as the General Confederation of Trade Unions. The members of this organization were the trade union confederations of the republics of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as 38 regional and industrial organizations.
