...the meltwater flowing from a glacier is cloudy white because it contains clay created by abrasion, and is often called glacial milk. Polished surfaces or scratches (glacier striae) on the surface of bedrock or rocks are considered evidence of the existence of glacial activity. In areas of localized negative pressure, such as downstream of a bedrock protrusion, rock masses are torn off downstream (plucking), creating a rugged landscape.
