Japanese: 先天性幽門狭窄症 - せんてんせいゆうもんきょうさくしょう

The correct name is congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. It is a disease in which a hard, elastic, oval or spherical mass measuring approximately 2 cm in length and 1.5 cm in width congenitally develops in the pyloric region of the stomach. This mass is mainly caused by thickening of the circular muscle layer, and as a result of the thickening of the muscle, the lumen narrows, but it never closes. The incidence is higher in Caucasians than in Japanese, and the gender ratio is 4:1, with more boys than girls, and slightly more common in first-born children.

正しくは先天性肥厚性幽門狭窄症congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosisという。先天的に胃幽門部に長さ約2cm，幅約1.5cmの卵形ないし球形の硬い弾力性のある腫瘤ができる疾患。この腫瘤は主として輪筋層の肥厚に起因しており，筋肉の肥厚の結果，内腔の狭窄が起こるものであるが，けっして閉鎖には至らない。発生頻度は日本人よりも白人で高く，男女比は4対1で男児に多く，また第1子にやや多い。
