Haruo Orikuchi

...This bore fruit in the collection of poems Umiyama no aida (1925), which includes the poem "There was a man who walked this mountain path." After parting ways with Araragi, Teiku joined the Nikko group in 1924 with Kitahara Hakushu and Koizumi Chikashi, and continued to be active by forming the Torifune-sha company. He continued to show a strong desire to compose poetry, even writing Yamato wo Guna (published posthumously in 1955), which sang of the grief of losing his adopted son Orikuchi Harumi on Iwo Jima during the Pacific War. He delved into the relationship between the formation of tanka and its inherent rhythm, including the use of punctuation, and also wrote long poems and free verse poems, compiling three volumes of poetry, including Kodai Kannai-shu (1947), for which he received the Art Academy Prize the following year.
