Leonids (Leo meteor shower)

This meteor shower appears mainly around November 16th, and the number of meteors that appear varies greatly from year to year. Large meteor showers tend to occur approximately every 33 years. The great meteor showers of 1799 and 1833 are historic, with more than 10,000 meteors seen per hour. In 1965 Japan saw a significant appearance, and in 1966 America saw a significant appearance. Many bright meteors appear, and they often explode at the end. The radiant point is in Leo, at right ascension 150° and declination +22°. The parent comet is the Tempel-Tuttle comet.
