Ando [town] - Ando

Japanese: 安堵[町] - あんど

A town in Ikoma County in the northwest of Nara Prefecture. It was incorporated as a town in 1986. The town name comes from Ando-sho, a manor from ancient to medieval times. It occupies almost the center of the Nara Basin, at the bottom of the basin where the Yamato River in the south joins with tributaries such as the Tomio River. Since ancient times, the area has suffered frequent flooding, and river improvement works have been carried out. Suminoe textile factories have moved in and urbanization is progressing. In addition to traditional rice farming, greenhouse cultivation of strawberries, tomatoes, etc. is thriving. There are the Nakaya House, a remnant of the Muromachi period moated housing style, and the Tomimoto Kenkichi Memorial Museum. ^{4.31 km2} . 7,929 people (2010).

奈良県北西部，生駒(いこま)郡の町。1986年町制。町名は古代〜中世の荘園安堵荘に由来。奈良盆地のほぼ中央を占め，南部の大和川が富雄川などの諸支流と合流する盆地底にあたり，古くから水害が多く，河川改修が進められてきた。住之江織物の工場などが進出，都市化が進んでいる。従来の稲作に加えイチゴ・トマトなどハウス栽培が盛ん。室町時代の環濠住宅形式を残す中家住宅や富本憲吉の記念館がある。4.31km²。7929人（2010）。
