Test tube

Japanese: 試験管 - しけんかん(英語表記)test tube
Test tube

The simplest type of chemical laboratory equipment. It is generally a glass tube with one end closed and a round bottom. It is used as a preliminary experimental container for operations such as dissolving, heating, and cooling small amounts of chemicals, and for observing color reactions and precipitation reactions, and is also used for culturing bacteria. It is also useful as a storage container. Special types include those with stoppers and graduated marks, and those made of colored glass, metal, or synthetic resin.
