Fructose - Kato
Its chemical formula is C 6 H 1 2 O 6 . It is also known as D-fructose. It is the sugar most commonly found in plants, and is a representative ketohexose. It is particularly abundant in fruit juice and honey. Disaccharides and polysaccharides such as sucrose, raffinose, stachyose, and inulin also contain fructose as a component. It is the sweetest of all sugars. It is hygroscopic and reducing. The decomposition of glucose and other processes takes place via fructose, and it plays an important role in sugar metabolism.
