A novella by British author R.L. Stevenson. Published in 1886. The famous Dr. Jekyll invents a potion that transforms the drinker into a vicious man (Mr. Hyde) without any trace of morality. The doctor believes that the coexistence of two natures, good and evil, in one person is the source of misfortune, so he extracts only one of them and gives it a body. While he is Mr. Hyde, he experiences complete freedom from moral consciousness. However, after many times, he begins to take on the appearance of Mr. Hyde even without the potion, and meets a tragic end. The grotesque story shocked society at the time and drew condemnation from all walks of life, but it can be said to be an extremely unique work in that it explores the issue of human duality.
