Refers to expressing a numerical value using a continuous physical quantity. The word "analog" comes from the Greek word analogia (meaning similarity), and refers to a quantity whose magnitude changes continuously and can take any number of intermediate values, such as common physical quantities such as length, current, and resistance. In analog instruments, the value of a quantity is expressed by a scale marked by the movement of a pointer. Also, in analog computers, mathematical problems are solved by the voltage or current of electronic circuits. In contrast, a discrete quantity, such as counting the number of units of a certain quantity (such as counting natural numbers), is called a digital quantity.
