Street railway - Shigaitetsudo
This refers to railways in the broad sense that are built to meet the transportation demand within cities, and is classified as tramway (streetcar), elevated railway, subway, etc. Japan's first urban railway was the streetcar in Kyoto in 1895, but due to subsequent road congestion, they were gradually abolished, and instead, subways and monorails were built.
