Geocentric coordinates

Japanese: 地心座標 - ちしんざひょう（英語表記）geocentric coordinates

Coordinates with the origin at the center of the Earth. Longitude and latitude are used to indicate positions on the Earth, and the latitude used in this case is called geographical latitude or geodetic latitude. Because the Earth is a spheroid, a vertical line drawn at a given location on the Earth will not pass through the center of the Earth except at the equator and the north and south poles. The angle between this vertical line and the equatorial plane is called geocentric latitude. In contrast, if a line is drawn from the center of the Earth to a given location, the angle between this line and the equatorial plane is called geocentric latitude.

地球の中心に原点をとった座標。地球上での位置を表すときに経度と緯度を使用しているが，この場合に用いられる緯度は地理緯度geographical latitude，または測地緯度geodetic latitudeと呼ばれるものである。地球は回転楕円体であるため，地球上でその場所に立てた垂直線は，赤道と南北両極以外では地球の中心を通らない。この垂直線と赤道面との間の角を地理緯度という。これに対して地球の中心からその場所を結んだ線を引き，その線と赤道面との角を地心緯度geocentric latitudeという。
