The Three Stolen Princesses - Sannin no Ubawareta Oujo

Japanese: 三人の奪われた王女 - さんにんのうばわれたおうじょ

A type of legend or folk tale. This story is particularly dense in Asia Minor along the Black Sea coast, so it is thought to have originated in that region. However, it is more widespread, with many similar stories found in Northern Europe and Ireland, and it can be said to be found in almost all of Europe. As a result, there are many variations, but to explain, taking a similar story from the Caucasus as an example, an apple is stolen from a king's precious garden, so three princes take turns keeping watch, and only the third son manages to hit the thief, a genie, with an arrow.

伝説･昔話の話型の一つ。この話は黒海沿岸の小アジアに特に濃く分布しているため，その地方に起源があるのではないかと考えられている。しかしその分布はひろく，北欧，アイルランドにもかなり多くの類話がみられ，ほとんど全ヨーロッパにあるといえる。したがって変化も多いが，カフカスの類話を例にとって説明すると，王がたいせつにしている庭のリンゴが盗まれるので，3人の王子が順に見張りにいき，三男のみが盗人である魔神に矢を命中させる。
