Drawing Journal - Togakenmonshi

A treatise on painting written by Guo Ruoxu of the Northern Song Dynasty in China. It consists of six volumes. It records painting matters from the end of the Tang Dynasty to the mid-Northern Song Dynasty (mid-9th century to 11th century). It was completed around 1081 (4th year of Yuanfeng). It has a preface, and while Zhang Yanyuan's "Records of Famous Paintings of All Eras" covers the period up to 841 (1st year of Huichang) during the Tang Dynasty, this work covers the period from this year to 1074 (7th year of Xining) during the Song Dynasty. It is a successor to "Records of Famous Paintings," and the format of the entire work follows that of "Records of Famous Paintings." It consists of a narrative treatise (volume 1), a chronicle (volumes 2-4), a collection of historical events (volume 5), and recent events (volume 6). The essays are made up of 16 chapters, including "Discussing the differences in Huang and Xu's body," and the chapter "Discussing that qiyun does not depend on the teacher," which argues that qiyun is a reflection of one's personality and is essential to the study of qiyun theory. The Kiyi is a biographical book of painters, listing 292 painters from the end of the Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty. The Anecdotes and Close Stories are collections of anecdotes about Tang and Song painting.

中国、北宋(ほくそう)の郭若虚(かくじゃくきょ)の撰述(せんじゅつ)になる画論書。全六巻。唐末より北宋中期（9世紀なかばから11世紀）に至る画事(がじ)を記す。1081年（元豊4）ころの成立。自序があり、張彦遠(ちょうげんえん)の『歴代名画記』が唐代の841年（会昌1）までを収めているのに続けて、この年から宋代の1074年（煕寧7）までの記事を載せるといい、『名画記』を継いだもので、全編の体裁もそれに倣っている。叙論（第1巻）、紀芸（第2～4巻）、故事拾遺（第五巻）、近事（第六巻）からなる。叙論は「黄徐体の異を論ず」などの16章よりなり、なかでも「気韻は師によるにあらざるを論ず」の章は、気韻は人格の反映と説き、気韻論の研究には欠かせぬものとなっている。紀芸は画家伝で、唐末から宋代の画家292名を載せている。故事拾遺、近事は唐宋絵画の逸事を集めたものである。
