Located in Okamura-cho, Isogo-ku, Yokohama, this is the remains of a settlement on a plateau from the Jomon to Kofun periods. In 1959-61, the entire plateau was excavated over an area of approximately 10,000 m2, and eight Jomon period pit dwellings, 151 Yayoi period pit dwellings, 43 Kofun period pit dwellings, and 51 pit dwellings of unknown date were discovered stacked one on top of the other. Of these, eight pit dwellings from the Miyanodai period in the latter half of the middle Yayoi period had been burned down in a fire and were excavated in an abandoned state. All of these eight pit dwellings have a square plan with rounded corners, a side of 6 to 7 meters, and an area of about 40 m2, but only one dwelling has the characteristics of a main house measuring over 100 m2, and it was discovered that these eight dwellings were a village at one time during the middle Yayoi period.
