…During the Genroku period, the distinctive properties and standard dimensions of Sekishu-banshi were established, and production made a great leap. Kunisaki Jihee's Kamisuki Choho-Hoki (1798) is famous both in Japan and abroad as a masterpiece that clearly explains the manufacturing method of Sekishu-banshi with illustrations. Even after the Meiji period, papermaking farmers were widely dispersed in the mountainous areas of the three counties of Kashima, Mino, and Naka, and production continued. …
