〘 noun 〙① Landscapes left after the ravages of war. Landscapes of a defeated and ruined country. [Fan Chengda - with Hu Jingzhong and Chen Peng Yuan's poems on Shan Tang]② A type of landscape painting that depicts a part of nature in the lower left and right corners, leaving a large amount of white space on the screen to evoke a poetic sentiment in the viewer. It originated with Ma Yuan's school in the Southern Song Dynasty painting academy. A cornered view.
