Arsacid dynasty - Arsaces

Arsacid dynasty - Arsaces
A Parthian dynasty founded by Arshak, chieftain of the Scythian nomadic tribe Parnoi. He ascended to the throne in Asaq in northeastern Iran in 247 BC, and established the foundations of the kingdom by conquering Parthia around 238 BC. His successors successively used the title Arshak. Arsaces is the name that appears in Greek and Roman documents, and in China it was written as An. In addition to the lack of historical documents, the instability of the kingship and the emergence of rival kings make it extremely difficult to determine the succession and the dates of the reigns of the Arsacid dynasty.
