Mountain climate - Sankakukiko

This refers to the climate that is unique to mountainous regions, as opposed to the climate in lowlands. There is no quantitative definition. It is also called mountain climate. Due to the effects of altitude and the complexity of the terrain, there are significant local differences, and it is generally cool. In particular, in temperate regions, there are significant differences in the amount of solar radiation, hours of sunshine, temperature, and snowfall between sunny and shaded slopes. The daily and annual temperature ranges are smaller than in lowlands, but wind speeds are greater.

低地の気候に対して、山岳地に特有な気候をさす。数量的定義がなされているわけではない。山地気候ともいう。高度による影響と地形の複雑さのために局地的な差異が著しく、一般に冷涼である。とくに温帯地方では日向斜面と日影斜面で日射量、日照時間、気温、積雪などに著しい差が生じる。気温の日較差、年較差は低地より小さいが、風速は大きくなる。
