...After about five months, baby snakes with a total length of about 40 cm hatch. Five species are distributed from the Bay of Bengal to the coastal waters of Oceania, and three species are known to live off the coast of the Ryukyu Islands: the black-spotted sea snake, the broad-spotted sea snake, L. laticaudata , and the blue-spotted sea snake, L. colubrina . These snakes have a strong neurotoxin, but they are docile and do little harm in reality.
