[Uranium(IV) oxide]
Chemical formula: UO ₂ . Also known as uranium dioxide. A brown powder obtained by heating uranium oxide (VI) UO ₃ in a hydrogen stream at 1000-1100°C for a long period of time and reducing it. Specific gravity: 10.97, melting point: 2176°C. It is easily oxidized even at room temperature to U ₄ O ₉ , U ₃ O ₇ , U ₃ O ₈ , etc. It is insoluble in water and dilute acids, but easily dissolves in concentrated nitric acid and perchloric acid.
[Tetrauranium nonaoxide]
The chemical formula is U ₄ O ₉ . It has a superlattice structure in which excess oxygen is inserted between the UO ₃ crystal lattices.

　化学式U₄O₉。UO₃の結晶に過剰の酸素が格子の間に入り込んだ超格子構造をもっている。
