Kabuki actor. His stage name is Kinokuniya. It originated from the first name of Sawamura Sojuro III.

(1788-1817) The third son of the 3rd Sojuro. In 1801 (Kyowa 1), he succeeded the 2nd Sojuro and became a leading female actor in the Bunka period (1804-1818), but died young. He was beautiful, and excelled in his age, manners, and manners.

(1845-78) The second son of the 5th Sojuro. In 1859 (Ansei 6), he assumed the stage name of the 3rd Sojuro. Well-known as a "kirinji" (a brave young man), he became a leading female actor at the Morita-za at the age of just 16, where he gained great popularity. Despite his outstanding talent, he unfortunately suffered from gangrene, which led to the amputation of both his arms and legs, but he continued to perform on stage and was well-received. He excelled in the role of wicked women and evil women, with hit roles such as "Kirare Otomi," "Kasamori Osen," and "Uwabami Oyoshi," before dying young at the age of 34.

(1932- ) The eldest son of the 5th generation. His real name was Muneo Yamanaka. He took on the name when his father retired in 1964 (Showa 39). He became a talented female actor. In 2002 (Heisei 14), he was designated a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure).

(1788―1817)3世宗十郎の三男。1801年(享和1)2世を継ぎ、文化(ぶんか)期(1804~18)の女方(おんながた)の立者(たてもの)になったが、早世した。美貌(びぼう)で、時代・世話・所作事(しょさごと)のいずれもよかった。

(1845―78)5世宗十郎の次男。1859年(安政6)3世を襲名。麒麟児(きりんじ)との名声が高く、わずか16歳で守田座の立女方(たておやま)になり、人気を集めた。優れた才能をもちながら、不幸にも脱疽(だっそ)を患って両手両足を切断、しかもなお舞台に立って好評を受けた。伝法肌の女性や悪婆を得意とし、「切られお富」「笠森(かさもり)おせん」「蟒お由(うわばみおよし)」などを当り役とし、34歳で早世。
