A lawgiver in the Greek colony of Locrii (Apoikia) in southern Italy in the mid-7th century BCE. His laws are said to have been the first written laws in Greece, and were extremely strict, based on the principle of "an eye for an eye," with fines determined in advance. He also restricted luxury, and his ideas were adopted by other cities in Italy and Sicily. He is also famous for arbitrating social disputes in Locrii.
