Oonamu-no-Mikoto - Oonamu-no-Mikoto

...The meaning of Koga Saburo's underground journey, in which he is given a final welcome in the hunting country of Iki and then resurrected to the surface, is undoubtedly an expression of the dual nature of Suwa Myojin, a god of hunting and agriculture, entrusted to Koga Saburo. The journey through the underworld is the same as the trial and rite of passage that the birth of Suwa Myojin, the god of the present day, had to go through in the Middle Ages, and it overlaps with the structure of the myth in which Onamuchi, persecuted by the eighty gods, escapes from the surface to the land of roots underground, endures various trials imposed by Susanoo, and is resurrected to the surface. The plot in which Saburo, the youngest brother, falls into the underground after being plotted by his older brother, overcomes the difficulties, and finally succeeds is also a form of the youngest brother's success story.
