The name of the theater company. It stands for Tokyo Left Theater. In March 1928, when the All-Japan Proletarian Arts League (NAP) was founded, the Avant-Garde Theater and the Proletarian Theater merged to form the theater section of the league. In December of the same year, the national organization PLOT (Japan Proletarian Theater Alliance) was formed, and the group also played the role of its center. The core members were Sano Seki, Hisaita Eijiro, Kurahara Tadahito, Hayashi Fusao, Murayama Tomoyoshi, Sasaki Takamaru, Fujita Mitsuo, Sugimoto Ryokichi, and Ono Miyayoshi. They produced excellent plays such as "The Yakuza Chronicle" (1929), "A Town Without the Sun" (30), and "All Quiet on the Western Front" (31), and also created short plays dealing with current affairs entitled "The Living Newspaper" and "The Red Megaphone," and sent theater agents to workplaces. In 1951 it was renamed the Central Theater, and following Murayama's proposal for a new theater company called Daido Danketsu, it became the mainstream of the New Kyodo Theater Company, but it was dissolved in 1965 due to increasing repression by government authorities.
