〘Noun〙① A lineage of continental immigrants in the pre-Taika period. A title given to those who served under the Ayauji and supervised the Ayabe, who were the tomobe under their control. Many of these people had the surname Sukuri . 〘名〙① 大化前代、大陸系渡来人の一系統。漢氏(あやうじ)の部下となり、支配下の品部(ともべ)である漢部(あやべ)を監督した者の称。その姓(かばね)は村主(すくり)が多い。元来は五世紀初頭に朝鮮から来た技術民がこう呼ばれたが、のち中国系と称する渡来人を意味するようになった。→東漢氏(やまとのあやうじ)・漢部(あやべ)。※書紀(720)神功摂政五年三月(熱田本訓)「今の桑原、佐糜、高宮、忍海、凡て四の邑の漢氏(アヤヒト)等が始祖なり」② 姓(かばね)に準ずる呼称。中国系の渡来人の系統であることを意味する。※書紀(720)推古一六年九月(岩崎本室町時代訓)「唐国に遣(つかは)す学生(ふむやわらは)倭(やまとの)漢(あやの)直(あたい)福因(ふくいん)〈略〉高向(たかむこの)漢人(あやひと)玄理(けんり)、新(いまきの)漢人(アヤヒト)大国」
