Azetouna - Azetouna

A perennial plant of the Asteraceae family (APG classification: Asteraceae) that grows on rocky coasts. The basal leaves are obovate and thick, and when cut, they exude a milky liquid. Runnels extend from the axils of the basal leaves, and at the end of them grow numerous yellow flower heads measuring 1.5 cm in diameter. They flower from September to December, and the flowers wither. Distributed west of the Izu Peninsula, Shikoku, and Kyushu. Other species in the same genus include Wadan and Hosoba Wadan.

キク科（APG分類：キク科）の多年草で、海岸の岩場に生える。根出葉は倒卵形で厚く、切ると乳液が出る。根出葉の葉腋(ようえき)から走出枝を伸ばし、先に径1.5センチメートルの黄色の頭花が多数つく。花期は9～12月、開花したものは枯れる。伊豆半島以西、四国、九州に分布。同属にワダン、ホソバワダンがある。
