Samita Takarazuka Tomb - Samita Takarazuka Tomb
<br /> This ancient tomb is located in Samida, Kawai-cho, Kitakatsuragi-gun, Nara Prefecture, and is also known as Koganezuka and Koganeyama. It is located in the western part of the Nara Basin, a little away from the center of the Umami Hills. It became known as such because it was excavated by local people in 1881 (Meiji 14) under the pretext of land reclamation, and many grave goods were unearthed. In 1985 (Showa 60), a survey was conducted to apply for historic site designation, and it was found to be the first keyhole-shaped tomb built in the Umami area, and the excavated artifacts were deemed essential for understanding the state of the early Kofun period, so it was designated a national historic site in 1987 (Showa 62). The mound is 111.5m long, 60m in diameter at the rear mound, and 45m wide at the front. Excavated artifacts total 140 items, including 36 mirrors, jewels, stone bracelets, shovel -shaped stones, stone cups, talc replicas, swords, and axes, which are kept in the Tokyo National Museum and the Archives and Mausolea Department of the Imperial Household Agency. Take the Nara Kotsu bus from Yamatotakada Station on the Kintetsu Railway Osaka Line to "Taketori Koen Higashi" and walk for about 15 minutes.
