Japanese: 指出(差出) - さしだし

It is a noun derived from the word "sashidasu" (to point out), and means documents to be submitted, but from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period, it meant documents related to cultivated land submitted in response to a request from a higher authority. The earliest example of the word "sashidasu" is the entry for April 14, 1444 (Bun'an 1) in the Kennaiki, where the new shugo Yamana clan conducted sashida collection in Harima Province. At that time, the Yamana clan demanded reports from manor lords and local temples and hermitages on the number of fields, tributes, and other items in the main territories of temples and shrines, whether or not there was labor or direct work for the main territories, whether or not they were shugo-ken, and whether or not there were any letters of donation for temple and shrine fields, shrine fields, and lecture fields.

〈指し出す〉の名詞化した言葉で，提出書類の意味だが，中世後期から近世にかけては，上級権力の要求に応じて提出される耕地関係書類を意味する。〈指出〉の語は《建内記》文安1年(1444)4月14日条，新守護の山名氏が播磨国で行った指出徴収を早い例とする。このとき山名氏は，寺社本所領の田数･土貢･諸色の数量，夫役や本所直務の有無，守護請地かどうか，寺庵田･神田･講田については寄進状があるかどうかについて荘園領主や在地の寺庵等に報告を要求した。
