A representative scenic spot (place of scenic beauty and natural monument) of Kaifuura, a coastal area in Sanboku-cho, Iwafune-gun, Niigata Prefecture (now Murakami City). The steep cliffs of Hanakouwa Rock, where the Budo Mountains approach the sea, are full of small islands, caves, and hanging waterfalls caused by sea erosion.
