House of Saxony - Sachsen German

The first dynasty of the medieval German kingdom (919-1024). After the death of the Carolingian dynasty in East Frankish Germany, the dynasty was founded in 919 when Duke Henry I of Saxony was elected king after the transitional rule of Conrad I of Franconia. The dynasty was succeeded by Otto I (the Great), II, and III in direct lineage, and after the early death of Otto III, Henry II, the grandson of Henry I's younger brother, succeeded him and continued until 1024, when the Salier dynasty took over. They repelled invasions by foreign tribes such as the Magyars and Normans, ensuring the safety of the German kingdom, and in the west, they recaptured Lorraine, which had once been subordinate to the West Frankish Kingdom. Domestically, they allied with the church powers, carried out the so-called Imperial Church policy, suppressed the independence of the various tribal grand dukes, and consolidated the foundation of the medieval German kingdom. In particular, Otto I invaded Italy, was crowned Roman Emperor, established the Holy Roman Empire spanning Germany, Burgundy, and Italy, and placed the Papacy under its protection, while also providing strong support for the spread of Christianity to the Slavic regions of the East.
