Cellulose acetate butyrate

Japanese: 酢酸酪酸セルロース - さくさんらくさんセルロース（英語表記）cellulose acetate butyrate

It is also called acetate butyrate cellulose. It is a mixed ester of _cellulose . Cellulose has many hydroxyl groups in the molecule, but the hydroxyl groups -OH are reacted with acetate _CH3COOH and butyric _acid _{CH3CH2CH2COOH} or their _anhydrides to convert them into a mixed ester of cellulose acetyl ester _-OCOCH3 and butyryl _ester _{-OCOCH2CH2CH3} in a certain ratio, which is acetate butyrate. Acetate butyrate with 37% butyryl and 13% acetyl by weight is commonly produced.

酢酸酪酸繊維素ともいう。セルロースの混合エステルのことで，セルロースは分子内に多くの水酸基をもつが，その水酸基－OHを酢酸CH₃COOHおよび酪酸CH₃CH₂CH₂COOHまたはその無水物と反応させて，セルロースのアセチルエステル－OCOCH₃とブチリルエステル－OCOCH₂CH₂CH₃のある割合の混合エステルに変えたのが，酢酸酪酸エステルである。37重量％ブチリル‐13重量％アセチルの酢酸酪酸エステルが一般に製造されている。
