Japanese: 上関[町] - かみのせき

A town in Kumage County in the southeastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It consists of the tip of the Murotsu Peninsula and Nagashima, Yashima, and Iwaishima in the eastern part of the Suo Nada Sea. The central settlement, Kaminoseki, is at the northeastern end of Nagashima, and together with Murotsu on the opposite shore, it has been a key port in the Seto Inland Sea since the Middle Ages. In addition to producing anchovies (dried sardines), mandarin oranges are also cultivated here. The Kaminoseki Ohashi Bridge connects Kaminoseki with Murotsu. Mount Oza behind Murotsu offers a great view of the western Seto Inland Sea. 34.69 ^km2 . 3,332 people (2010).

山口県南東部，熊毛郡の町。室津半島先端部と周防(すおう)灘東部の長島，八島，祝島からなる。中心集落の上関は長島の北東端にあり，対岸の室津とともに中世以来瀬戸内海の要津であった。いりこ（イワシの煮干）を産するほか，ミカンも栽培。室津との間に上関大橋がかかる。室津背後の皇座(おうざ)山は西瀬戸内海の好展望地。34.69km²。3332人（2010）。
