Sakaigawa

Japanese: 境川 - さかいがわ

A river that flows through central Kanagawa Prefecture. Its name comes from the fact that it formed the border between Sagami Province and Musashi Province. Its total length is 69 km. It flows southeast between the Sagamihara Plateau and the Tama Hills, and its upper reaches still form the border between Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture. In the middle reaches, it turns south and empties into Sagami Bay at Katase in Fujisawa City. The area near its mouth is also called the Katase River. As the river basin becomes urbanized, measures are being taken to prevent river water pollution and flooding during rainfall.

Sakai River

This is the former village area of Fuefuki City in central Yamanashi Prefecture, in the central-western part of Fuefuki City. It occupies the southern part of the Kofu Basin, the alluvial fan on the left bank of the Fuefuki River, and the hills at the northern foot of the Misaka Mountains. It was incorporated as a village in 1903. In 2004, it merged with the towns of Isawa, Misaka, Ichinomiya, Yatsushiro, and Kasugai to form Fuefuki City. Rice, wheat, and sericulture were the main industries, but there has been a noticeable shift to pear cultivation. Bougamine has a good view. Ogurozaka is the birthplace of the haiku poet Iida Jaku and his son Ryuta.

神奈川県中部を流れる川。名称は相模国と武蔵国の境界をなしたことに由来する。全長 69km。相模原台地と多摩丘陵の間を南東流し，現在も上流は東京都と神奈川県の境となっている。中流で南に向きを変え，藤沢市片瀬で相模湾に注ぐ。河口付近は片瀬川とも呼ばれる。流域の都市化に伴い，河水の汚濁と降雨時の増水に対する対策が進められている。

境川
さかいがわ

山梨県中部，笛吹市中西部の旧村域。甲府盆地南部，笛吹川左岸の扇状地と御坂山地北麓の丘陵地を占める。 1903年村制。 2004年石和町，御坂町，一宮町，八代町，春日居町と合体して笛吹市となった。米作と麦作，養蚕が主体であったが，ナシの果樹栽培への転換が目立つ。坊ヶ峰は眺望がよい。小黒坂は俳人飯田蛇笏・龍太父子の生地。
