[1][1] The name of a place in the eastern part of Okayama City. It flourished as a port town and market town at the mouth of the Yoshii River, and from the end of the Kamakura period developed as a temple town for the Shingon sect's Saidaiji temple. It produces grapes and pears. It was incorporated as a city in 1953 , and was incorporated into Okayama City in 1944. [2] A Shingon sect temple in Saidaiji-naka, Okayama City. Its mountain name is Kinryozan. It is said to have been founded in 751 by Fujiwara Minataruhime. The temple was converted by the Ukita clan, lords of Okayama Castle. The current main hall was built in 1863. The Eyo festival held in February is famous as a naked festival. [3] The head temple of the Shingon sect, located in Shiba-cho, Saidaiji, Nara City. It is one of the Seven Great Temples of Nara. Founded in 765 by the imperial order of Emperor Shotoku (Koken), the temple was founded by Joto , the founder. During the Nara period, it flourished as a large temple on a par with Todaiji Temple, but fell into decline after several fires. During the Kamakura period , Eison rebuilt it. The current building dates from the Edo period. It houses many national treasures, including the twelve heavenly kings, a gilt-bronze openwork stupa, and the Golden Light Sutra. Koya-ji Temple. [1][一] 岡山市東部の地名。吉井川河口の港町、市場町として栄え、鎌倉末期からは真言宗西大寺の門前町として発達。ブドウ、ナシを産する。昭和二八年（一九五三）市制。同四四年岡山市に編入。[二] 岡山市西大寺中にある真言宗の寺。山号は金陵山。天平勝宝三年（七五一）藤原皆足媛(みなたるひめ)の創建と伝えられる。岡山城主宇喜多氏の帰依(きえ)を受けた。現在の本堂は文久三年（一八六三）造営のもの。二月に行なわれる会陽(えよう)は裸祭として有名。[三] 奈良市西大寺芝町にある真言律宗の総本山。南都七大寺の一つ。天平神護元年（七六五）称徳（孝謙）天皇の勅願により常騰(じょうとう)を開山に創建された。奈良時代には東大寺とならぶ大寺で隆盛をきわめたが数度の火災で衰亡。鎌倉時代に叡尊(えいそん)が再興。現在の建物は江戸時代のもの。十二天像、金銅透彫舎利塔、金光明最勝王経など多くの国宝を所蔵する。高野寺(たかのでら)。四王院。[2] 〘名〙奈良の西大寺で製して売った気付け薬。西大寺薬または豊心丹(ほうしんたん)、沈麝丹(ちんじゃたん)とも称した。〔日葡辞書（1603‐04）〕
