Private language - Shitekigengo (English spelling)

Japanese: 私的言語 - してきげんご（英語表記）private language

One of the important concepts used by Wittgenstein in Philosophical Investigations, he named it after the idea of a language that records internal experiences such as sensations, emotions, will, and thoughts for oneself alone. The words in this language refer only to direct internal phenomena, and their meanings are determined regardless of facial expressions and actions that can be observed from the outside, so they cannot be understood by others. According to Wittgenstein, this fictitious language is not only incomprehensible to others, but also to the person who uses it, who only "appears to understand" it, so it does not deserve to be called a "language" in the first place.

ウィトゲンシュタインが《哲学探究》で用いた重要な概念の一つで，感覚，感情，意志，思考といった内的な体験をまったく自分だけのために記録する言語を想定して名付けた。この言語に属する単語は内的直接的な現象のみを指し，外から観察できる表情や動作とは無関係に意味がきまっているので，他人には通じない。ウィトゲンシュタインによるとこの虚構の言語は，他人が理解できないだけではなく，実は用いている当人も〈理解しているようにみえる〉だけで，元来〈言語〉の名に値しない。
