Sa'ālibī means "fox man," and it is said that he was a seller of fox furs in his youth. Yatīma al-dahr (The Peerless One of the Ages) is a collection of the best poems of the era, and is an immortal masterpiece. It is particularly significant as a record of literary activity in the 10th century, the heyday of Arabic literature. It is not just a collection of great poems, but also conveys the achievements of poets. He also left behind many other works, including Fiqh al-lugha (Linguistics), a collection of anecdotes about historical figures, and a collection of famous quotes.
